Day 7: Climb Ev’ry Mountain….

So much for the Great Plains – those couldn’t be much further in the rearview mirror after today’s 340 mile drive westward.  Today was one of those days where you can’t help but feel badly for them when they go down for rest period since there is such amazing scenery right outside the window…

This morning was a pretty busy one, as we had to get all the boys dressed, packed and fed before cleaning-up the facilities so they looked “better than we found them”.  The boys did a fairly good job as a whole, but hats-off to the officers who really took charge and provided some very good leadership at the right time.

The rest of the day was fairly routine.  The drive through western Montana and eastern Idaho was breathtaking.  Many pictures were taken through the bus windows.  For lunch, we stopped by a rest stop and ate the bag lunches the church had provided for us.  (First Presbyterian Church in Great Falls certainly outdid themselves the entire two days we were there…)  Another musical group was traveling to the Seattle region to perform at a wedding and asked if they could sing for us.  They did a very nice job, and we returned the favor with a song of our own.

The concert in Coeur d’Alene was well attended and even better received!  This was a very gracious audience with many local ties that just adored the boys.  After the concert, the boys had some cookies and met their host homes for the night.

Until tomorrow…

PS – It looks as if the Great Canadian Postage Strike of 2011 has commenced.  The US Postal Service is no longer accepting general mail to Canada, but you can pay TONS of money to use their premium service to guarantee the mail makes it to your destination.  PLEASE don’t do that…It’s just not that important.  Instead, once we reach Canada on Tuesday, if you would like to send emails to me, I will print them off and make sure the boys get them.  My email is pjfanberg@lolcb.org
